Dr. Wendy Osefo is challenging the legal system head-on after being hit with multiple fraud charges alongside her husband, Eddie Osefo. “The Real Housewives of Potomac” cast member is accusing law enforcement of executing an “illegal” arrest and is now asking a Maryland court to throw the entire case out.
In legal documents filed on October 17th, Osefo’s attorney demanded the charges be dismissed due to “defects in the charging document.” She also asked that any evidence, wiretaps, or statements obtained during the investigation be suppressed, claiming they were the result of an “unlawful search or seizure.”
“All admissions, statements or confessions” should be excluded, her legal team argued, because “they were unlawfully obtained.”
Wendy and Eddie were arrested on October 9th in Westminster, Maryland, following a grand jury indictment for insurance fraud, conspiracy, and giving false statements to police. Both posted $50,000 bail.
Prosecutors allege the couple faked a burglary at their home while vacationing in Jamaica in April 2024, claiming high-value items were stolen. But investigators say no movement was recorded on security cameras, and later found at least 15 “stolen” items inside their home.
Wendy is also asking the court to separate her trial from Eddie’s and wants access to police reports, witness lists, and any informants involved.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” their rep said.
Wendy later posted, “And through it all, GOD remains faithful.”
