Wendy Williams has enlisted the help of A$AP Rocky’s famed attorney to help with her legal woes.
Joe Tacopina, the high-profile lawyer known for representing celebrities like Rocky and Donald Trump, is now fighting to enter Williams’ guardianship case. However, he still requires a judge’s approval before he can officially take on the role, though he is optimistic about his position on her team.
“The end goal is to get her out of that draconian institution she’s in,” Tacopina told TMZ. “She doesn’t belong in [it], because she’s not incapacitated in any way, shape, or form. […] She’s in a place where people are dangers to themselves. She’s not.”
The talk show host has been pushing back against her conservatorship, challenging the narratives about her mental health and dementia diagnosis. Now, with Tacopina in her corner, she’s taking an aggressive approach to regain her freedom.
“I spoke to Wendy at length yesterday. She wants me to represent her. I am representing her. Her family has asked me to represent her. I’m her personal attorney. Now, it doesn’t mean I’m in the guardianship case yet,” he clarified. “The judge has to approve any lawyer coming into the guardianship.”
Tacopina is strategizing every possible angle to secure his position in the case, even though it may come with restrictions. “How it’s done honestly doesn’t matter to me,” he stated. “The goal, end game, is to make sure she gets out of there.”
