According to TMZ, sources close to the situation revealed that Williams underwent a “capacity test” at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Monday. The test, which consisted of 10 questions designed to assess her mental alertness and orientation, resulted in a perfect score of 10 out of 10.

The evaluation’s results mark a significant contrast to claims made by Williams’ court-appointed guardian, who previously filed legal documents asserting that the former talk show host’s condition was deteriorating. Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, though she has publicly disputed the diagnosis. The recent assessment, however, did not specifically address whether her original diagnosis was accurate.

The outcome of the exam is expected to be submitted to the judge overseeing Williams’ guardianship case. This development could play a crucial role in determining whether she can regain control of her personal and financial decisions.

This latest update follows reports that the NYPD conducted a wellness check at Williams’ adult care facility earlier that same day. Officers were reportedly investigating claims that Williams was being held in restrictive conditions at the memory unit of the facility, where residents are not permitted to leave without permission. Additionally, Adult Protective Services has launched its own investigation into Williams’ guardianship.

Williams, who has been under guardianship since 2022, has been vocal about her desire to end the legal arrangement. She recently expressed frustration with her current living situation, calling it a “prison-like environment.”
