The latest NFL Mock Draft from ESPN’s Mel Kiper was revealed this week, and the headline-grabber was quarterback Shedeur Sanders being selected by the New Orleans Saints at pick number nine.
It could be a perfect fit for the Saints, especially with new head coach Kellen Moore potentially getting the chance to draft “his guy.”
Miami quarterback Cam Ward is projected to go to Tennessee as the number one overall pick. With most teams in the top ten already set at the quarterback position and expected to take the best available prospect, the next logical fit for a QB was New Orleans. Kiper was adamant about how ideal that pairing could be.
“Cleveland and the Giants will be getting the best player available in the draft,” Kiper said on ESPN’s Get Up. “Saints new head coach Kellen Moore… I think with Shedeur Sanders, it would be ideal going to New Orleans and being able to get that going.”
Mel Kiper also reiterated that Sanders remains his top-ranked quarterback in this draft class and has held that position all year.
The most intriguing development out of Sanders’ camp this week is a scheduled meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’ll be visiting Thursday, and all eyes will be on what comes out of that trip to Pittsburgh.
Check out Kiper’s breakdown below.
