One month after striking Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith is embarking on a personal journey.
On Saturday, Smith arrived at a private airport in Mumbai, India, where he was seen for the first time since the Academy Awards.
According to a source close to the actor, he went to India to practice yoga and meditation for spiritual reasons.
Last month Will apologized to Rock, saying that he “reacted emotionally” because the “joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear.”
Will resigned from the Academy following the slap, stating that his behavior was “shocking, painful and inexcusable.”
He later concluded, “Change takes time, and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason.”
Following his resignation, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences banned the actor from events for the next 10 years.
Last week, Jada announced that her family will discuss the aftermath of the Oscars incident on the Red Table Talk.
