A woman in Texas has been arrested after she allegedly spat on a corpse during a funeral viewing.
On June 5, police arrested 51-year-old Laurie Lynn Hinds in connection to an incident that took place at a funeral viewing seven months ago. Hinds reportedly came to a funeral viewing in Tyler, Texas, and instead of paying respects to the dead, she spat on their body, which was lying in an open casket.
There are no details about what Hind’s issue may have been with the now-deceased, but the family of the deceased person said Hinds had “animosity” toward them.
The act of crime is categorized as “abuse of a corpse.” On June 6, Hinds was released from jail after posting a $2,500 bond, and she’s now looking at a state-jail felony, Complex Media reports.
Hinds could face up to two years in jail and be fined up to $10,000.
