Pennsylvania Woman Arrested for Coughing and Spitting on $35,000 Worth of Food; Supermarket Tosses Contaminated Food

35-year-old Margaret Cirko has been arrested for purposely coughing and spitting on $35,000 worth of food in a Gerrity’s Supermarket located in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. The possibility of exposure to COVID-19 makes these heinous actions even more shameful.

The co-owner of Gerrity’s Supermarkets,  Joe Fasula, described the woman to be a “chronic problem in the community.” Fasula believes the woman committed a “very twisted prank,” which cost his store valuable food that had to be thrown away due to health and safety precautions. The store had to be cleaned and disinfected by the employees.

According to TMZ, authorities reported that Cirko made threats when she entered the store, claiming to be sick as she coughed and spit on produce, bakery items, and meat. She attempted to steal a 12-pack of beer when she was arrested thereafter. The woman was reportedly charged with felony counts of terrorist threats, threats to use a “biological agent,” criminal mischief, criminal attempt to commit retail theft, and disorderly conduct.

Her bail is reportedly set at $50,000, with a court date scheduled for April 8. It is unclear if the woman had the coronavirus.
