A woman survived a potentially life-threatening situation when she discovered a man hiding in her backseat.
The shocking ordeal occurred in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, during the early morning hours of Monday. That is when an officer stumbled across a woman on the side of the Route 6 exit ramp, visibly shaken. When he approached her, she told him a shocking tale straight out of a Stephen King novel. According to the unnamed victim, she left a friend’s house before 1:00 a.m. A light appeared behind her seat as she got further up the road. She quickly glanced in her backseat and found a man hiding his face under a jacket. The victim said she began driving recklessly with so much force that the man flew out of the partially open rear door.
The incident occurred just moments before the deputy located the woman, so finding the culprit did not take long. The frightened female identified him at the scene via a photograph officers showed her. Cops say his name is Jailton Dos Santos of South Yarmouth. The woman said that when she initially noticed him in her car, she screamed, which caused him to yell back at her.
Dos Santos, 36, has not given authorities a reason as to why he was in the car, but his motive couldn’t have been anything good. He has since been charged with breaking and entering a vehicle at night. CBS News reports that Dos Santos was already facing unrelated charges and was supposed to be in court on the same day he was arrested. He is being held on $3,000 bond.
