A passenger on a Carnival cruise went overboard in the Gulf of Mexico after getting into it with someone in a hot tub.
The U.S. Coast Guard went on a search for a 32-year-old woman who jumped out of a Carnival Valor cruise ship from Mexico on Wednesday. The ship has just sailed 150 miles out from the coast of Louisiana, The Independent reports.
Footage of the incident was captured on video; it showed three security guards trying to control the woman. She was eventually removed from the deck, but then she allegedly broke free from the guards and jumped off the tenth floor of the ship and into the ocean. Footage of her jumping was not recorded, but the woman reportedly hit the side of the boat before hitting the water face first, The Daily Mail reports.
Crew members tossed life preservers and flares to mark where she dropped into the water, but not long after, the woman no longer could be seen, passengers say.
The woman came on the five-day cruise with her husband. After searching for 14 hours, the Coast Guard suspended its search of the woman at 5:37 p.m. on Thursday. The cruise is scheduled to return on Monday.
