Tuesday is the first day of jury selection in the trial for the 2018 killing of rapper XXXTentacion.
XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was shot and killed as he was leaving a Florida motorcycle dealership on June 18, 2018.
Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen, Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome have all been charged in the fatal shooting.
Per the indictment, Boatwright was the gunman who fatally shot XXXTentacion. The indictment also noted that Williams was spotted on the dealer’s surveillance cameras while XXXTentacion was shopping. Williams later told cops he was with other men at the store at the time of the shooting but claimed he did not know they had planned to rob the rapper. Allen, also charged in the fatal shooting, took a plea deal in August 2022 and plans to testify during the trial.
Drake has also been requested to testify at the trial by Williams’ attorneys, who believes that previous tensions between Drake and XXXTentacion may have contributed to the murder.
According to reports, there has been no evidence that Drake is involved.
