YNW Melly is speaking out after being accused of allegedly attempting to escape from prison.
On Sunday, DJ Akademiks shared a phone call from Melly on social media. During the call, Melly thanked his fans, as well as revealed his love and appreciation for God.
“This is YNW Melly,” he said. “I just wanna let all my fans know that God is real and Jesus is real, you know what I’m saying? He has anointed my head with oil, you feel me?”
He continued, “He has cleansed my soul. He has blessed me to really see the reason y’all love me. The reason everybody loves my music is because of God. He gave me that gift. He is the reason I’m coming home, nobody else.”
Melly then thanked his supporters and expressed his love for his fans.
“I love y’all, and I love y’all so much. I thank God for all of y’all every day. Thank y’all, just keep me in your prayers. Amen.”
As we’ve previously reported, on September 27th, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office accused Melly of planning a prison escape during a court hearing.
Authorities claim they were tipped off about the plan by an inmate that Melly was going to escape alongside another inmate, Nicholas Lewis. The tip prompted correctional officers to search both Melly and Lewis’s cells.
Police found a six-inch shank, two razor blades, two lighters, rolling papers and Seroquel and Klonopin pills in Lewis’s cell. But unfortunately, only commissary food and “excessive jail-issued clothing” was found in Melly’s cell.
The accusations came just days after Melly was accused of housing “shanks” and “a pipe bomb” in his jail cell.
Melly has been incarcerated behind bars since 2019. He was arrested for allegedly murdering his two friends, Christopher Thomas Jr. and Anthony Williams.
