Jail is weighing heavily on Young Thug, who admitted to having suicidal thoughts as he awaits trial in his RICO case.
Fans were left panicked Thursday when Thugger’s nephew, BSlime, shared a video on Instagram of him speaking with the “Ski” rapper. During that call, Thug began freestyling, discussing his current state of mind since his arrest on May 8th. It was then that he made the shocking revelation that he’d contemplated taking his life behind bars.
“I tried to cry but ain’t nothing left. I contemplated doing myself, n***a. The most suicides deaths are in this jail. But let’s not forget that this ain’t Hell,” the 30-year-old rapped acapella. The comments were instantly flooded with well-wishes from fans sharing words of encouragement. Hip-hop colleagues Young Scooter and Lil Got It also showed their support.
Days after his arrest, Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel shared that his client was being housed in harsh conditions in Cobb County Jail. Steel filed an emergency motion with the Georgia Superior Court demanding that Thug be freed. Cobb County shot back, taking a news crew inside the jail to prove that the conditions, while not luxurious, are not inhumane. Thug was denied bail.
Thug shared a message during Summer Jam, urging fans to sign a petition that will ban the use of song lyrics in court. His trial is set for January 9th, 2023.
