Yung Miami addresses “Caresha Please” 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards win.
Earlier this month, Yung Miami was recognized at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards for her outstanding achievement in the “Caresha Please” podcast, receiving the Best Hip Hop Platform award. This recognition stirred up controversy, primarily because the podcast had initially released only four episodes. On the recent episode of “The Breakfast Club” that aired on Thursday, the City Girls member addressed the criticism and firmly silenced any critics who questioned her deservingness of the award.
“I work hard. I deserve everything,” Miami began. “When I just did my first live podcast and the line was around the corner. It’s new. We [are] in a new time. We [are] in a new generation. I’m bringing something new, so why I don’t deserve it?”
Charlamagne then countered Miami’s statement by emphasizing the limited number of episodes released to date. It’s worth noting that the past five episodes of “Caresha Please” have collectively garnished more than 15 million views on YouTube, solidifying its position as one of the most sought-after talk shows on the platform.
“That’s how I want to run my show, though. I want people to wait, I want my sh*t to be anticipated. I don’t want to drop every week. You just said you don’t like the way everyone doing it. I want people to anticipate my sh*t,” she added. “I just feel like, as a Black woman, people always discrediting us. Don’t discredit me. I work hard. I’m away from my kids, I get up every morning, [and] I put in the work. I deserve everything that’s coming to me.”
Nevertheless, “Caresha Please” came out on top during the ceremony, defeating well-established shows such as “Drink Champs,” “The Breakfast Club,” “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game,” and “The Joe Budden Podcast.”
