A Washington D.C hotel that has become a favorite hangout spot for members of the white nationalist group, the Proud Boys, is shutting its doors for two days during planned pro-Trump protests next week.
According to N.Y. Daily News, the Harrington Hotel and its adjoining Harry’s Bar, which are located a few blocks away from the White House, will only be open to longterm residents from next Monday to next Wednesday, to avoid trouble from those in the area who will be taking part in the Pro-Trump protests.
“We cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, (but) we are taking additional steps to protect the safety of our visitors, guests, and employees,” the hotel said in a statement, without directly mentioning the far right-wing group by name.
The Harrington and its Harry’s Bar have become the unofficial hangout spot for Proud Boys supporters during pro-Trump rallies around D.C. in the past.
Non-white employees and guests of the hotel have complained about the presence of the white nationalists, who have been responsible for inciting violence at previous pro-Trump events in the area.
Donald Trump has been calling for “wild” protests on Jan. 6th, the day Congress meets to certify the results of President-elect Joe Biden’s win in the November presidential election.
By continuing to push his unfounded claims of election fraud, Trump is hoping his supporters will force Republican lawmakers to object to the results from the Electoral College.
