Chicago rapper LoWick, born Chadwick Clark, was shot and killed by an FBI agent Wednesday morning during a raid on a home in south suburban Dixmoor. He was 22.

The shooting happened around 7 a.m. near 145th Street and Cooper Avenue. The FBI said it happened during what the agency called “court-authorized law enforcement activity,” meaning agents were acting under an order signed off by a judge. The bureau has not said what that order was for or who agents were looking for.

Witnesses said authorities forced their way into the home, and neighbors reported hearing flash bang devices, which are devices that let off a loud blast and a bright flash to stun people inside, followed by gunshots. Drones were also seen over the area. Responders appeared to perform CPR on a person before loading them into an ambulance, which left with its lights and siren on.

The scene quickly filled with FBI agents, Dixmoor police and Cook County sheriff’s deputies. Residents gathered outside, upset and demanding answers. One woman at the scene was heard saying, “They shot my baby.”

A police source told FOX Chicago that about five people were taken into custody in connection with the operation. Their names and ages have not been released. The FBI said none of its agents were hurt and that there was no threat to the public.

The FBI has not said what happened inside the home before the agent opened fire, or whether Clark was armed. In a statement, the bureau said it “takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously” and that the shooting is under review by its Inspection Division, the internal office that investigates when agents use deadly force. The agency said it had no further details to share.

His sister, Nia Cole, confirmed he was the man killed. She said her brother had a past legal history and had recently finished a prison sentence. According to Cole, he was out on parole and working to rebuild his life, with music as a big part of that.

In Chicago’s drill scene, Chicago rapper LoWick was known for his work alongside Bloodhound Q50, appearing in songs and music videos with him. Bloodhound Q50 was shot and killed at a gas station last month, which means the scene has now lost both artists within weeks of each other.

Clark’s death is the second fatal FBI shooting in the Chicago area in three days. On Monday evening, an off duty FBI agent shot and killed a man who was reportedly firing into a crowd in the Pilsen neighborhood.

The investigation into the Dixmoor shooting is ongoing.
