Quavo is taking social media back to the source after one of his most memorable performances with Takeoff found a completely new life online. As the “Hotel Lobby” AI challenge continues spreading across social platforms, Quavo responded by sharing the original COLORS performance that helped create the moment everyone is now recreating.
“The original!!! #HOTELLOBBY,” Quavo wrote on Instagram while sharing footage of himself and Takeoff performing the track.

And technically, he has the receipts.
Quavo and Takeoff delivered their “Hotel Lobby (Unc & Phew)” performance for A COLORS SHOW in June 2022. Standing against the platform’s minimalist orange backdrop, the two Atlanta rappers traded verses while Quavo’s animated movements and Takeoff’s laid-back presence gave the performance its instantly recognizable energy.
More than four years later, that visual has been pulled directly into the AI era.
Social media users have been recreating the performance with AI-generated versions that place different people and characters into the COLORS-style setup. The format has become recognizable enough that AI video platforms are now publishing dedicated tutorials and templates designed specifically to recreate the “Hotel Lobby” look.
Quavo’s movement during the performance has become part of the joke, too. His bouncing dance and animated delivery are being mimicked in the AI recreations, turning a four-year-old performance into fresh social media material in 2026.
The resurgence adds another layer because the original clip features Takeoff.

The late rapper performed alongside his uncle Quavo as Unc & Phew, the name the pair used for their music together. “Hotel Lobby” arrived in May 2022, followed by their COLORS performance on June 17. The performance has since generated more than 100 million views on COLORS’ official YouTube channel.
Takeoff died later that year on November 1, 2022, at age 28.
That history makes Quavo’s decision to repost the original stand out beyond simply jumping on a viral challenge. While AI versions keep remixing the visual with new faces, characters, and scenarios, his response redirects attention to the real performance between him and Takeoff that started it.
It also shows how unpredictable internet nostalgia has become. A music performance can sit online for years, then suddenly get pulled back into the algorithm because new technology gives users another way to remix it.
This time, AI did not create the moment. It just introduced a new generation of social media users to it.
