Fans who showed up for night one of the R&B Tour in Atlanta say Chris Brown and Usher hit the stage nearly three hours late, skipped their songs together and left half the setlist on the table.
The Thursday, November 5 show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium kicked off a five night run in the city. The stadium’s schedule had gates opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. According to fans, the wait stretched way past that, with one concertgoer on Threads putting the delay at two hours and 40 minutes.
A fan who was in the building told Baller Alert the pair came out three hours late and never performed any of their songs together. The same fan said there were “no cherries,” no girls on stage, and half the setlist never got done. The fan also said word in the building was that the two were fighting, though there is nothing to show it ever got physical.
Others said the same thing online. One fan called night one “an absolute mess,” saying the two cut a full hour from the show and refused to share the stage. Another said the concert was cut off at midnight because of a city ordinance, which would explain why so much of the setlist got skipped. Complaints about the sound piled up too.
That is a long way from how the R&B Tour started. When the tour opened in Denver, the show ran about three hours and ten minutes, from roughly 8:45 p.m. to 11:55 p.m., with Brown and Usher trading the stage across nine acts. Their joint moments, like “New Flame,” have been some of the biggest of the night.
Rumors about the two are nothing new. A few years back, reports claimed Brown and his crew jumped Usher outside Skate Rock City during a birthday party Usher threw for Brown. Both performed at Lovers & Friends in Las Vegas the next day with no visible injuries, and neither ever addressed the reports.
This time, Brown is pushing back. On Friday, he posted a black screen to his Instagram Story with the word “Internet,” a cap emoji, and the words “don’t fall for it.” Cap is slang for a lie. Brown did not say which part of the chatter he was calling cap, and Usher has not publicly addressed the complaints.
