Family, friends and former co workers are mourning Denise Bohn-Stewart, a 45 year old former TV journalist and radio host. According to CBS Detroit and other local reports, Denise and her husband, Eric, were found dead in their Berrien County, Michigan home on Tuesday morning in what authorities describe as an apparent murder suicide.
The Daily Mail reports Denise, a breast cancer survivor, was shot multiple times in the couple’s bedroom. Eric was found in the basement, having taken his own life.
Reports say the couple’s three children were home and discovered the scene around 6:30am. A 911 call placed by one of the children said their father had passed away in the basement and that they could not find their mother. When police arrived, the children were on the front steps. Officers took them in, and they are now being cared for by family members.
Sources told reporters the couple had been having marital problems, but authorities have not shared further details. It had been eight years since Denise was declared cancer free.
Our thoughts are with the family and everyone who knew and loved her.
