Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi is behind bars after being arrested at LAX on Sunday after border agents saw that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The artist has just landed from Canada when the warrant was discovered, and it reportedly detailed an outstanding drug case.
Jxmmi’s lawyer told Pitchfork the detainment of his client was all because of “miscommunication” and that the warrant in question had actually been dismissed.
The two-year-old warrant detailed that Slim Jxmmi had been arrested in Cobb County, Georgia, where he later entered a plea for a minor marijuana possession charge. He received five years probation.
Earlier this year, the rapper was arrested for misdemeanor battery after his girlfriend called authorities to report him for domestic violence, but she eventually recanted her story.
“Nearly two years ago, Aaquil entered a plea to a marijuana offense in Cobb County, Georgia,” Jxmmi’s lawyer Steve Sadow told TMZ “He was placed on probation. In early June 2022, the mother of his child filed a untruthful complaint with the Cobb County Police Department, which led to an arrest warrant being issued.”
