Casanova’s legal battle has intensified.
The 35-year-old Brooklyn rapper is now charged with attempted murder in his federal racketeering case, according to a superseding indictment acquired by AllHipHop.
The charges arise from a shooting outside of Miami’s King of Diamonds nightclub in October 2020.
After a witness allegedly called out Casanova for throwing “the improper gang sign,” a brawl occurred.
“You want to die tonight?” the rapper allegedly asked the rival gang member, prosecutors say. His associate Jarrett “Jaycee” Crisler then opened fire outside the club, injuring the man and another person.
When authorities seized Jaycee’s phone, they discovered text messages in which he boasted about the attack. Jaycee allegedly wrote, “Killed a n***a last night smh.” He said, “It’s all over the news I only shot twice on two of them, but I didn’t miss a shot… You’re trying to challenge me with the best shot in the world? Lol.”
Since last year, Casanova has maintained his innocence and has called on his family and fans for support.
In an Instagram post last month, the rapper expressed he was innocent.
“The charges against me are false, they don’t represent or reflect the person that I am,” he said. “They are simply using my past criminal history to crucify me in court. I’m calling on all the great people with meaningful and powerful voices to help me with this matter. If there’s anything you can do to help whether if it’s contacting my legal attorney to see that I played NO role in this case or having a private investigator look into actual role and not the alleged accusations against me. Any help provided will be a blessing, because I feel defeated one’s past shouldn’t be the reason why you can’t be afforded a successful future.”
