Back in March, Migos released their third single, “Walk It Talk It” off their third studio album, “Culture II.” The song featured Drake, and quickly became one of the most popular songs from the album, as the third-highest charting of all the songs, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Eventually, the song went on to secure a 2x Platinum certification in Canada, as well as the United States with over 2,000,000 units sold. But now, upon the success of the song, another rapper is looking to collect on the profits, as he claims the group ripped off his song to create the ‘Culture II’ masterpiece.
According to TMZ, Leander C. Pickett has filed a lawsuit against the rap group for allegedly stealing his song, “Walk It Like I Talk It,” which he claims was recorded back in 2007.
In docs obtained by the publication, Pickett says he released the song on a mixtape the following year but realized in January of 2018 that the Atlanta trio released a similar track on “Culture II,” which contained a “substantial portion” of his version.
Pickett says he filed for copyright on his song in March of 2018, two months after Migos released their album. But, nevertheless, Pickett is suing Migos and Capitol Records for the song, and he wants a judge to cease any future use of his composition.
