Rap Veteran Yo Gotti is boosting up his portfolio by becoming a soccer team owner.

The CEO of CMG is rumored to be part of a group of significant investors looking to buy a proportion of D.C. United soccer club. Also included in the Investment Group is Eyob “Joe” Mamo and a petroleum executive in the D.C. area. If the deal is successful, the group will get a 6% stake in the MLS organization.

According to The Washington Post, the deal is still waiting for approval, but the investors would be the latest to join the United ownership group. As the team continued to spread the trend of selling minority shares to celebrities, the Houston Texans of Mark Ingram II bought a 1% share in June.

The rapper has yet to announce the deal publicly, but he was seen at an MLS All-Star Game last month and met MLS commissioner Don Garber. In recent years, Yo Gotti has also become friends with co-presidents of D.C. United, Jason Levien, and Steve Kaplan with his desire to move in the right circles.
