Raven Symone Talks Cheetah Girls

Raven-Symoné stopped by E! News with Adrienne Bailon-Houghton and Justin Sylvester to talk about how everyone has been saying her name wrong and her vulnerability when coming out.

First things first, everyone has been pronouncing Raven-Symoné’s name wrong. In a TikTok, the “That’s So Raven” star revealed that it’s pronounced, “See-mon-ye.”

In addition to the correct name, she opened up about personal obstacles she faced in 2013.

“There were a lot of challenges,” Raven exclusively told E! News at the March 4 ceremony. “There was the crumbling of the wall that I had put up for so many years. And I felt very vulnerable, it was an interesting wound that was opened up in public.”

Raven married her lifelong partner Miranda Maday in 2020.

“I was taken aback at first like, ‘Oh, holy snap, this is happening, okay?!'” she shared. “But also honored and humbled and respect that there’s so many other people that deserve this. I’m definitely humbled for taking it. My wife was happy about it, though,” the Cheetah Girls actor said regarding her icon status.

She continued, “Y’all better keep going because y’all are changing all kinds of conversations that I didn’t even know was possible!” she said. “But also respect your elders at the same time.”
