Ray Allen is at the center of a court dispute after a man he met online accused him of stalking, according to the Associated Press.
Allen filed an emergency motion on Tuesday saying he was catfished. His attorney wrote that the man, Bryant, pretended to be a number of attractive women interested in Allen, and that Allen believed he was speaking with real women.
The filing came one day after Bryant told the court he was the one being stalked by Allen. Allen’s side disputes that and says it is the other way around.
The motion also claims Bryant posted about Allen’s family, home and his wife’s restaurant, including posts made from inside the restaurant in Orlando, and tagged the family in them. Allen says the two had agreed to keep their conversations private, and that Bryant has since backed away from that deal.
Allen’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, said in a statement that Allen has taken legal action to stop what the family describes as stalking and threats. He added that Allen regrets engaging with the person online and is thankful they never met in person.
Bryant’s claims against Allen have not been proven, and the court had not ruled at the time of the report.
