Ray J spent three days in a Las Vegas hospital after being knocked unconscious by comedian DeWayne Stevenson, known as Supa Hot Fire, at Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 14 event at the UFC Apex. That hasn’t slowed him down even slightly. Freshly released, the R&B singer hopped on Instagram to announce he’s already signed for his next fight and insists his MMA career is just getting started.
Ray J Signs For August 23 “Back To School Brawl”
In a candid Instagram post, Norwood addressed his debut loss without dodging it: “I had a perfect record 0-0-0 — I took a L! Period!! Now I’m 0-1-0 — I’m training harder, and I’m more focused!! JUST Signed the contract for the next fight, August 23rd! THE BACK TO SCHOOL BRAWL.”
He added that he’ll compete at 215 lbs for the light heavyweight title, giving himself three months to prepare. No further details about his opponent have been announced.

Ray J Says He Has “5 To 10 More Fights” Left
The 45-year-old made clear he’s treating this as a genuine athletic career, not a one-time celebrity stunt.
“Every fighter has been through crazy shit,” he said in an accompanying video. “At least, I have 5 to 10 more fights for me with the biggest fighters.”
He acknowledged the emotional sting of his first career loss, made sharper by the fact he’d never competed before, but framed it as a launchpad.
“This was just a stepping stone in my fighting career,” he said.
What Happened At Brand Risk 14: The Knockout
The fight was a strange spectacle from the start. Stevenson, who has five previous Brand Risk bouts under his belt, refused to throw a single punch in the first round while Norwood charged forward and landed shots. Then, less than 30 seconds into the second round, Supa Hot Fire detonated, landing a heavy right hand that sent Ray J stumbling into the ropes before collapsing to the canvas. Footage of the finish spread rapidly on social media, with Ray J’s eyes visibly rolling back on impact.
After the stoppage, Ray J confronted Stevenson inside the cage, claiming the two had a pre-fight agreement and that the knockout cost them both money. Adin Ross later said his team would investigate whether any arrangement had been made between the fighters.
Ray J’s Medical Condition: Concussion, Heart Rate, And A Preexisting Condition
The medical situation is what separates this story from a typical celebrity fight recap. Sources told TMZ that Ray J checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital just hours after the bout and remained there for multiple days while doctors ran tests. Medical staff were reportedly investigating a potential concussion, while also monitoring concerns about his heart rate slowing down, particularly alarming given that Ray J has a preexisting heart condition that predates the fight.
The timing adds another layer of concern: earlier this year, Norwood was reportedly hospitalized with heart-related complications and pneumonia, and made headlines during fight week by alarmingly telling fans he didn’t have “long to live.”
That context makes both the fight itself and his current comeback declaration land with considerably more weight.

Someone should offer C-Dove a shot at Ray J in the ring or cage.
