Ray Lewis admits he is the father of an 11 year old boy in Florida, and he says he’s willing to pay support. There’s just one condition: he doesn’t want the boy’s mother handling the money.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Baltimore Ravens star has an ongoing paternity case with the boy’s mother, Sharnika. In his filing, Lewis acknowledges he is the father. The disagreement is over the money.
Lewis says Sharnika has an outstanding judgment against her from a civil case totaling more than $1 million. In the documents, he says he has “grave concerns about the Mother’s character” and worries that money meant for his son could go toward her debt or to support her other child instead.
His solution is to ask the court to appoint a guardian to manage any support he pays for his son.
The two had a hearing scheduled last month, but Lewis had to reschedule because of a game in San Diego. The judge has not ruled yet.
Whatever is going on between the adults, the hope is that this boy ends up with the support he needs.
