McDonald’s Is Coming for the Energy Drink Crowd With Red Bull Dragonberry

According to McDonald’s official announcement, Red Bull Dragonberry is headed to participating restaurants on August 17, giving customers a completely new way to get their caffeine with a McDonald’s run. The Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer marks the chain’s entry into energy drinks, expanding a beverage strategy that already includes crafted sodas and Refreshers. McDonald’s said those drinks helped kick off a new era for its menu and promised the latest addition would take customers’ “taste buds to new heights.”

The drink combines Red Bull with blue raspberry syrup and freeze dried dragonfruit pieces served over ice. McDonald’s described the combination in its announcement, saying, “Combining Red Bull’s signature flavor with blue raspberry syrup and freeze-dried dragonfruit inclusions, Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer is a bold, fruit-forward sip that’s as vibrant as it is energizing.” Customers who want a different base can choose Red Bull Zero for a reduced sugar version of the drink.

There is also another option for people who would rather skip the flavored additions. Participating McDonald’s restaurants will sell standard Red Bull in 8.4 ounce cans. That means the launch is doing more than introducing a single specialty drink. It is putting the energy drink brand directly onto the McDonald’s menu in multiple forms while the chain continues building out its noncoffee beverage choices.

Customers should also know how much caffeine is coming with the new menu item. McDonald’s says the Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer contains 80 milligrams of caffeine.

The Red Bull Dragonberry rollout is arriving alongside several other drink upgrades. Per McDonald’s, customers will be able to order a Vanilla Swirl made with smooth vanilla flavor and creamy cold foam. The combination can be paired with Coca-Cola, Diet Coke or Coke Zero Sugar. McDonald’s is also directing customers to look for Orange Dream with Fanta at locations where the specialty beverage is offered.

The company is giving customers more reduced sugar soda combinations as well. McDonald’s says participating locations can offer crafted drinks using Diet Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper Zero Sugar and Sprite Zero Sugar, depending on availability. The broader expansion shows that the energy drink debut is part of a larger beverage push rather than an isolated collaboration. McDonald’s has been steadily giving customers more customizable options beyond its traditional fountain sodas, coffee and shakes.

The Red Bull Dragonberry drink has also been tested outside this national U.S. rollout. According to ABC News, a version of the Dragonberry Energizer appeared in Australia earlier in 2026. McDonald’s Australia separately listed the drink among a broader group of new McCafé beverages, showing that the company had already been experimenting with Red Bull based menu items before bringing the concept to more American customers.

For McDonald’s customers, the biggest change may simply be having another caffeinated choice without making a second stop. Beginning August 17, the Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer, Red Bull Zero option, standard Red Bull cans and the expanded specialty soda lineup are set to reach participating restaurants. For a chain known as much for Coke and McCafé as its food, energy drinks are officially becoming part of the menu conversation.
