Exactly one year after a Texas college student was reported missing, authorities say they found remains believed to be his, and four men have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to People, Zuhyr, 21, of Katy, Texas, was last seen on April 28, 2019. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office classified his disappearance as a homicide last August.

Authorities said two men, Jose and Auston, both 21, were arrested on Saturday, April 25. Investigators said both made statements allegedly admitting to a role in Zuhyr’s death. By Tuesday, officers had located a third man, Eric, 22, and arrested him. Authorities said Eric led them to a home in nearby Grimes County, where a fourth man, Gannon, 23, allegedly told investigators he buried the remains on his property in the community of Todd Mission.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office told People the remains are “believed” to be Zuhyr’s, and a forensic investigation to confirm the identification is still pending. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared condolences for the family in a news release posted to the department’s Facebook page. “Our condolences go out to his family,” he said.

Zuhyr’s family said he was enrolled at Lone Star College and hoped to attend the University of Houston. Authorities said they believe he was the victim of a drug deal gone bad.

According to online court records, Jose, Auston and Eric were charged with capital murder and are being held in the Harris County jail. Eric’s bond was set at $200,000, while the other two were held without bond. Gannon is accused of tampering with a human corpse and is being held in the Grimes County jail. His bond information was not available. All four are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
