Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles has introduced a resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution, allowing a president to serve up to three terms. If passed, this would revise the 22nd Amendment, which currently limits presidents to two terms in office.

The proposed language of the amendment reads:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

Congressman Ogles has been vocal about his motivation for this proposal, citing former President Donald Trump as the type of leader the country needs for long-term success. “President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years,” Ogles stated.

He continued, “This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs. It is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration.”

Ogles praised Trump’s record, emphasizing actions like tightening border security, challenging diversity and inclusion policies, and reshaping U.S. energy policies. He referenced Trump’s efforts to declare Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations, end birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants, and begin the withdrawal from the World Health Organization as key examples of his leadership.

Ogles also criticized the Biden administration, claiming it has “crushed countless families” with rising costs, increased crime, and what he called “radical agendas infiltrating schools and workplaces.” He believes extending presidential term limits could give leaders like Trump the time necessary to enact lasting reforms.
