Robert Griffin III and Ryan Clark are locked in a personal and public social media battle that started over a take on the WNBA rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
It began when RG3 commented on the viral moment from Saturday’s game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, where Reese and Clark had a minor on-court run-in. Griffin III tweeted that Reese’s actions seemed to stem from “hate, jealousy and resentment” toward Clark. The comment didn’t sit well with Ryan Clark, who addressed it on The Pivot podcast.

Clark criticized RG3’s stance, saying it fits into a broader trend of “denigrating Black women.” He took it even further on X, saying, “Add him to the list of Black men who’ve adopted the corny trend of denigrating Black women to affirm their choices.”
But what really escalated the situation was when Clark brought Griffin III’s personal life into the discussion. He referenced RG3’s marriage to Grete Šadeiko, a white woman from Estonia, questioning whether Griffin could truly relate to what Angel Reese, a Black woman, experiences.
“If you’re RG3, when is the last time within your household you’ve had a conversation about what [Angel Reese is] dealing with?” Clark said on the podcast. “You haven’t been able to do that because in both of your marriages, you’ve been married to White women.”
Griffin III, who once worked alongside Clark at ESPN, fired back on X, calling Clark’s comments out of bounds. “Ryan Clark didn’t like my take on Angel Reese hating Caitlin Clark. That’s fine. Disagreement is part of the game. But instead of debating my point, he personally attacked me and my family,” RG3 wrote. “That shows how low of a person he is.”
He added that Clark crossed a line by dragging his wife into a disagreement over a basketball opinion, calling the move “cowardly, spineless, and weak.”
“Disagree with me all you want. Challenge my take. But keep my family and wife out of it,” Griffin said.
