Rick Ross Got Clowned For Flying Commercial, But His Private Jet Explanation Changes The Whole Conversation

Rick Ross is clearing the runway on that viral commercial flight conversation, and his explanation is a lot more practical than the internet jokes made it seem.

After a photo appeared to show Ross flying commercial, fans started debating why a rapper with a customized Gulfstream G550 would be moving through the airport with regular travelers. According to Ross, the answer was simple: his private jet was being serviced to include Starlink, the satellite internet system used for in-flight connectivity. Starlink Aviation is designed for high-speed, low-latency internet on private aircraft, so this was less of a downgrade story and more of a maintenance schedule doing what maintenance schedules do.

Ross also made it clear he had somewhere to be. He said he needed to get back home quickly after attending Escape The States in Colombia, where he linked up to party with Ball Greezy and Trick Daddy. “I had an amazing time.” Event posts from Escape The States promoted Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, and Ball Greezy as part of its 2026 Cartagena lineup.

The funny part is that Ross’ private jet is very real. Duncan Aviation previously detailed the custom paint job on his Gulfstream G550, including gloss black, pearl gold, and high-reflective gold “Rick Ross” lettering across the aircraft.

Still, Ross used the moment to make a bigger point.

“Don’t ya’ll ever look down on no young hustlers if they walking, if they riding a bicycle, if they riding on the train, don’t you ever look down on no young hustlers going to get some money.”

That is the part the jokes missed. Flying commercial does not erase a private jet. Sometimes the boss move is choosing the fastest route home and letting the jet get upgraded.
