One of the most outstanding rock performers of all time, Meat Loaf has passed away at 74. TMZ reports the legendary rock musician had become “seriously ill” with COVID days before his death.

The heartbreaking news was shared early Friday morning on the singer’s Facebook page. No cause of death was given at the time.

“Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side. Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours,” the post said.

Sources tell TMZ that Meat Loaf was scheduled to attend a business dinner earlier this week to discuss a new show. Unfortunately, the meeting was canceled due to the rock singer catching COVID and his symptoms worsening rapidly.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Meat Loaf has been very outspoken about the virus. Just recently, before his passing, Meat Loaf spoke about the vaccine mandates in Australia. It remains unclear if the singer was vaccinated or not.

Meat Loaf gained the public’s attention after releasing his 1977 “Bat Out Of Hell” album. The album sold roughly 65 million copies and contained several hits such as “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.”

He later followed up with a sequel album, “Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell.” The album produced one of his greatest hits, “I’d Do Anything For Love,” which won him a Grammy for the Best Rock Solo Vocal Performance in 1993.

The singer wasn’t a stranger to starring in movies and tv shows. To name a few, Meat Loaf made appearances in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Spice World: The Movie,” and “Fight Club.”

Our condolences go out to the rock legend’s family during this difficult time.
