#SanFrancisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has started something great. Ballers throughout the league have joined the movement and taken a knee (or a seat) in an effort to protest the mistreatment of black people (people of color) in America.

The protests have sparked major debate about the lack of the respect for the flag. While many people disagree with Kaepernick’s protest, others have spoken out in the baller’s defense, including #NFL Commissioner #RogerGoodell.

“As I’ve said before, I truly respect our players wanting to speak out and change the community. We don’t live in a perfect society. We want them to use that voice. They’re moving from protests to progess and trying to make things happen in the communities, and I admire that about our players [being] willing to do that,” Goodell said, according to #BenGoessling of ESPN.com.

“Obviously, we want to respect people. We want to respect our differences. We want to reflect our flag and our country, and our players understand that. So I think where they’re moving and how they’re moving there is very productive, and we’re going to encourage that.”

Although, Goodell previously spoke out against the way Kaepernick went about his protest, he always supported the quarterback’s right to protest. It’s good to know that the commissioner stands with Kaepernick.
