Russell Brand Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault Dating Back to 1999

Russell Brand

Russell Brand has denied multiple sexual assault charges brought against him in the UK, saying he’s “grateful” for the chance to fight the allegations in court.

In a video shared Friday while streaming from Mar-a-Lago, Brand addressed the charges and told followers, “I was a drug addict, sex addict, and an imbecile—but I was never a rapist.” He added, “I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes.”

UK authorities charged the 48-year-old with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault involving four women between 1999 and 2005. Brand is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2.

Brand described the legal case as politically motivated and claimed the justice system is being used “as a weapon.” He previously denied similar accusations made in a 2023 joint investigation by The Times and Channel 4, calling them “baroque attacks.”

Now living in Florida, Brand may be subject to extradition if the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service moves forward. The Home Office declined to comment on any ongoing extradition request.

Brand has become a prominent figure in conservative media and a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, calling on Americans to vote for him “if you care about freedom.” He has 22.5 million followers across social platforms and frequently speaks on issues of free speech and government overreach.
