Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson, will be spending part of his offseason on the baseball field for another year as it’s being reported Wilson will attend spring training with the New York Yankees.
According to Bleacher Report, Wilson was a 2010 fourth-round pick by the Colorado Rockies, and the NFL star has participated in the spring training camp throughout the years with both the Yankees and Texas Rangers. Wilson hasn’t played professional baseball full-time since 2011, shortly before being drafted in 2012 by the Seahawks in the third round.
Although any chance of injury is minimal, both Wilson and the Seahawks have a lot at risk. Spotrac reports the 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, which will pay him $17 million in 2019 and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told Seattle Times that an extension was “very much in our plans.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Yankees open spring training when pitchers and catchers report to Tampa, FL on February 13th. Position players report February 18th. New York’s first game will be February 23rd against Boston.
