Brittney Griner in custody in russia

Brittney Griner’s alleged mugshot from her recent arrest over hash oil for a vape has been released by Russian State media.

The 31-year-old WNBA star has not been seen in public since her February detainment.

Griner, who is a center for the Phoenix Mercury was taken into custody at an airport near Moscow. Russian customs officials allege a drug dog alerted to her carry-on bag, which allegedly contained hashish oil, TMZ reported.

Russian officials say a drug trafficking investigation has been launched and if she is convicted, Griner could face ten years in a Russian prison.

Russia’s state-owned news channel, Russia 24, shared the mug shot of Griner, and state media reported the booking photo was taken at a Russian police station.

The arrest comes at a bad time considering Russia is in a full-out assault on Ukraine. The United States and many other countries have sanctioned Russia’s government, which increased the tension.

Now, their government has a high-profile American prisoner that could become a pawn or bargaining chip for Russia and its president Putin.

TMZ spoke with longtime U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham who says the State Dept. is doing everything in its power to return the star athlete to her family and friends in the States.
