One day after TMZ reported the death of Gia Allemand, the girlfriend of New Orleans Pelicans player Ryan Anderson, Radar Online published a report citing a source close to the couple.

According to Radar, the source said Gia and Ryan had their first major fight while in Las Vegas at the end of July. The source also told Radar that Gia had expressed to friends that she was sad Ryan had not yet proposed.

The same source pushed back on the idea that the couple’s relationship was troubled. “It’s unfair to categorize their relationship as rocky,” the source told Radar, adding that Gia and Ryan were a happy couple for the most part.

It is important to keep in mind that this is one anonymous source speaking to one outlet. Suicide is complex and rarely has a single cause, and no one has publicly established a reason for what happened. Our thoughts remain with Gia’s family and friends and with Ryan.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted person or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800 273 8255.
