It was only a matter of time before Nicki Minaj’s ex-boo Safaree hit up The Breakfast Club to spill tea. Immediately when asked what he was to Nicki, Safaree simply answers “everything,” which probably could explain the ex-couple’s constant back and forth with each other. The two broke up 4-5 months ago and it’s pretty clear he still loves her. Safaree says that Nicki was his soul mate and that decisions weren’t made without him. He says that he and Nicki met when they were in a group together in New York called The Hoodstars. When the group didn’t work out, Nicki branched out and went solo so they packed up their cars and moved to Atlanta, where Nicki met up with Deb Antney, Gucci Mane etc and jumpstarted her career.
Charlamagne gets down to business, asking SB his thoughts on Nicki Minaj referring to him as corny. “I would never do anything publicly to try and pull her down”, Safaree tells The Breakfast Club, “Whatever happens between me and her one on one, it is what it is, that’s personal and I would never put that out there. I could be out here telling a million stories and doing cornball sh*t but I’m not going to do that.” Only problem is, Safaree HAS done that, when he leaked Nicki’s text messages. Maybe he forgot?
Safaree also says he’s the one that left Nicki because she didn’t respect him and was treating him like an employee. He says he didn’t understand why Nicki kept their relationship private but the break up public. He said he became numb to Nicki kissing Wayne on the lips, kissing Nas and giving Drake lap dances that the disrespectful lyrics from Wayne didn’t hurt his feelings. He said it wasn’t until Nicki called him corny that he decided to talk. He says when it was time to write music, it was him and Nicki, it was never 100% her. He says he’s going to do what he can legally to make sure he gets paid for his contributions. He also admits that the rumors of him wanting to commit suicide were true.
