Saweetie admits that her “boss b*tch”mentality doesn’t always translate seamlessly into her music-making process.

Last week, Saweetie opened up to Allure magazine about her past struggles with the desire to quit and how her artistic insecurities have hindered her creativity.

“I don’t mean to dampen the mood. But this is, realistically, how my career has been,” she said. “We were constantly criticized for every drop. I was just very insecure. I’m a confident woman, but I was a very insecure artist.”

Later in the interview, Saweetie confessed to experiencing moments of wanting to “give up.” Nevertheless, she aims to discard that mindset going forward, focusing instead on fully embracing the present moment and investing in her flourishing career.

“There’s been a lot of times these past couple of years where I’ve given up on myself,” she added. “Whether people knew about that or not, I just felt myself giving up, and I don’t want to do that anymore.”

Starting 2024 afresh, the 30-year-old launched her first single of the year, the lavish “Richtivities,” available on streaming platforms since February 23rd. Despite years of speculation since her breakthrough in 2018, fans are still left pondering the status of Saweetie’s highly anticipated debut album, “Pretty Bitch Music.” Presently, she remains tight-lipped about setting a release date for this elusive project.

“To me, music is sacred. It’s coming from your spirit. You can’t just go finish an album in a week,” she explained. “That’s why it’s taking me so long.”
