Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has announced that he is filing for divorce from his wife, Ashton Meem Wilson.
Wilson shared the news in a statement released through the team on Wednesday, April 23. The couple married in January 2012, before Wilson was drafted by the Seahawks. He went on to lead Seattle to a Super Bowl win earlier this year.
In his statement, Wilson said: “I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter.”
No reason for the split has been given, and Ashton had not publicly commented at the time of the announcement. Baller Alert will not speculate about what led to it. We wish both of them well.
