Sean Connery Passes Away At Age 90

Sean Connery, the Academy Award-winning, Scottish-born actor who played arguably the most iconic version of James Bond has died at age 90.

According to Variety, Connery, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, marked his 90th birthday last August. According to the BBC, his family confirmed his death, revealing that he passed away peacefully in his sleep while in the Bahamas.

Connery was a fan and audience favorite for more than 40 years. The actor who long believed he was pigeonholed as Ian Fleming’s sexy Agent 007, he went on to distinguish himself with a long and lustrous career in a variety of films such as “The Wind and the Lion,” “The Man Who Would Be King”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”,“The Hunt For Red October” and “Rising Sun.”

Connery won an Oscar for his portrayal of a tough Irish cop in Depression-era Chicago in Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables” in 1987.
