Sean Kingston Ordered to Pay $916,000 Over Luxury Watch Deal Gone Wrong

Singer Sean Kingston was arrested in California on Thursday evening, coinciding with a raid at his Florida residence where his mother was also taken into custody, authorities reported.

The “Beautiful Girls” singer was apprehended in Fort Irwin, a small desert town near the U.S. Army National Training Center, roughly 180 miles southwest of Las Vegas. The arrest stemmed from a Broward County warrant accusing Kingston, 34, of multiple counts of fraud and theft. He was taken into custody without incident and is expected to be booked into jail in San Bernardino County, where Fort Irwin is located.

On the same day, Broward County deputies and SWAT officers from Davie, Florida, executed a search warrant at Kingston’s property in Southwest Ranches, about 30 miles northwest of Miami. During the raid, Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, 61, was arrested on similar charges of fraud and theft.

Earlier Thursday, Kingston addressed his mother’s situation on Instagram, stating, “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother!.. my lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”

Bob Rosenblatt, Kingston’s attorney, indicated that the singer would waive extradition. “We were in the process of having him return to Florida after his show,” Rosenblatt said. “We want him back asap so we can show this is merely a civil case and not criminal. We look forward to challenging this case in court.”

Authorities initiated the investigation that led to the arrests in Dania Beach, Florida, but did not provide further details.
