Seven women have filed a lawsuit against Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, accusing the school of failing to act on years of alleged sexual harassment and assault in its Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences.
According to the lawsuit, filed Thursday, Nov. 15, the women say they were students in the department and describe a culture they call a “21st century Animal House.” The complaint accuses three professors, Todd, William and Paul, of treating female students as sex objects, hosting late night hot tub parties and bragging about who had the “hottest lab.” Two of the women allege they were sexually assaulted. These are allegations in a court filing and have not been proven.
The women also claim the school knew about concerns in the department as far back as 2002 and did not stop them. The complaint says the professors formed a “predatory club” that targeted young women and pushed back against those who turned down their advances.
The lawsuit further alleges students were pressured to drink and were led to believe their grades and mentorship depended on going along. The professors had not responded to news outlets about the claims at the time of reporting.
