Just days after it was announced that L.A. Reid was stepping down from his post at Epic Records, a new report is offering a possible explanation for the sudden exit.
According to Billboard, a former female assistant has accused Reid of unlawful harassment. The report says her attorney described the alleged behavior as daily, and that she eventually quit her job. Billboard reported that the accuser points to inappropriate comments Reid allegedly made about her appearance and clothing, along with alleged propositions that left her embarrassed and distressed.
The report adds that her attorney sent a letter to Sony threatening a lawsuit if the two sides could not reach a settlement. That complaint reportedly set off a companywide investigation into Reid’s conduct.
An attorney for Reid declined to comment. Billboard noted that one person in Reid’s camp said the letter contained inaccuracies. The allegations have not been proven, and Baller Alert will pass along any response from Reid or Sony.
