U.S. track star Sha’Carri Richardson is not letting her Olympic troubles get to her.

The 21-year-old gold medalist spoke with TMZ Sports on Wednesday about being left off of the Olympic team.

“Honestly, that news didn’t bother me because me and my team were realistic, so we kind of figured that they would say that in the first place,” Richardson explained.

Richardson was set to participate in the Tokyo Games before testing positive for marijuana. The U.S. Track and Field organizers announced on Tuesday that she would not be allowed to run on the 4×100 relay team despite her 30-day suspension ending before the event.

Celebrities such as Gabrielle Union and Cardi B showed support for the beloved athlete once the news broke that she would not be a part of the Olympics.

Despite the letdown, the LSU runner says she accepts her fate and has learned from her mistake.

“I understand the situation that’s going on. So, I’m accepting of it, and I just know what I have to do moving forward in my career.”

Richardson, who is America’s fastest woman, confessed to using marijuana to cope with the loss of her mother as she prepared for the U.S. trials.
