More information is being revealed about the shocking Shannon Sharpe rape accusations.
Sharpe’s attorney, Lanny J. Davis, revealed that the NFL Hall of Famer offered his accuser “at least” $10 million to resolve the civil sexual assault case before it went public. Davis said the offer was made during mediations “within the last month or so” and claimed the woman walked away “suddenly without warning.”
“It was a big surprise to us when suddenly this case was filed without any advanced warning,” Davis added.
The accuser, represented by controversial attorney Tony Buzbee, filed the lawsuit Sunday in Nevada. She alleged she met Sharpe at a Los Angeles gym in 2023, when she was 20. Though their relationship began consensually, she described it as controlling and verbally abusive. According to her lawsuit, Sharpe raped her in late 2024 after she tried to end the relationship, and again in January 2025.
On Tuesday, Buzbee released a recording of an alleged conversation between Sharpe and Doe, in which Sharpe appears to threaten her: “to f**king choke the s**t out of” her. Davis acknowledged the audio, saying Sharpe “spoke in the heat of the moment and did not literally mean the words.”
Davis denied the allegations and said Sharpe will file a counterclaim. He also warned that a video of the pair might soon surface, but claimed it would be “heavily edited.”
Sharpe released a video statement calling the lawsuit “a shakedown,” adding, “I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about.” He also shared text messages showing their sexual relationship and apparent “raceplay.” The messages also revealed the woman’s name.
