A fake quote attributed to Kevin Durant has Shannon Sharpe caught up in an awkward Twitter exchange with the Brooklyn Nets star. Sharpe brought up the quote on his FS1 show Undisputed, which he co-hosts with Skip Bayless and Jenny Taft.
“People try to discredit my rings, but honestly, I feel like they’re the most valuable of our era,” the quote in question reads. “People argue LeBron is the GOAT, but if I beat him in back-to-back Finals, then what does that make me?”
But the quote seems to come from a Nets fan account, not from Durant. Sharpe further instigated the situation by tweeting out the clip from Monday’s show of him calling out Durant, which ignited a back and forth between them.
Durant called Sharpe a “drunk uncle” and, in turn, called him out for “lying” and insists he never said the quote.
One Twitter user was quick to respond and attributed the quote to a fake Twitter account sending out fake tweets.
Sharpe couldn’t let it go and took another shot at Durant, who accused him of not responding to him.
Sharpe tells Durant he’s over the Twitter fingers beef and is not hard to find. KD makes a valid point: “u go on tv in front of everybody pushing fake shit, but now u wanna talk in private???”
The whole back and forth culminated in Sharpe blocking Durant. Hopefully, these two can move on like adults.
