Shantel Jackson and longtime boyfriend Nelly called it quits over the summer, leaving fans stunned.
Jackson stopped by The Real on Tuesday, where he opened up for the first time about the breakup. It turns out that their busy schedules kept them from spending the necessary quality time together required of a relationship.
“My ex and I, we didn’t end on bad terms,” she told the hosts. “When we started our relationship, I was always on the road with him—traveling out of the country, on concerts, all that good stuff. But then, when it came to a point where I was home more often, building my company Shoe Gummi or just working on my brand, and him being on the road, me being on the road less with him, we started to grow apart.”
Jackson explained that although they decided to take some time apart, they left the door open to possibly rekindle their romance. When asked if it was more of a break, Jackson said, “Umm, yeah, you can say that. A break, a split.”
Shantel and the “Hot In Here” rapper dated for seven years before quietly calling it quits this summer.
