A throwback interview clip of Shemar Moore and Bill Bellamy has been making its way back around, and it’s just as funny and just as pointed as it probably was the first time it aired. The two were doing press together, most likely around their 2016 film “The Bounce Back,” which is fittingly a whole movie about what a woman does after a breakup. So it tracks that somewhere along that press run, someone asked them the question every ex has probably wondered at 2 a.m.: How do women actually get over you? They did not hesitate.

“That’s how, ladies, that’s how ladies get over you. They get a haircut, and they go to the gym, lose 10 pounds, lose 10 pounds. They get a booty, and then they get that booty like this. They know the secret. This is embarrassing. I’m trying to call — you call the homie, you call my homie, find out what club, what restaurant I’m at, you show up with your little short thing with these bad boys pushed up, and you walk by and don’t speak and don’t even look. And we — and we see that right now. I can’t believe they know the truth. I’ve never done that, anyway. Whatever, whatever, whatever.”According to Moore and Bellamy, the post-breakup playbook starts with a fresh haircut, a trip to the gym, and specifically dropping 10 pounds. Then comes what they describe as getting a new booty, followed by a little investigative work to find out exactly where the ex will be.
The final move is showing up looking good, walking right past him, and refusing to speak, look his way or even acknowledge that he exists.
And then, of course, comes the deflection: “I’ve never done that, anyway.” Sure.
So here’s what we actually want to know: Is any of this true?
Is this really the blueprint, or is it two guys projecting their own anxiety about being replaced and calling it insider knowledge? Because from the outside, it sounds a little like men assuming that if a woman looks good after a breakup, it must be a covert operation aimed directly at them, when it might just be a woman living her life and looking good while doing it, with absolutely no club recon involved.
We want to hear the real version from the people who would actually know.
Ladies, when you’ve gotten over someone, what did it actually look like for you? Was there a glow-up phase at all, or is that something men tell themselves? If there was one, was it ever actually for him, whether to be seen or to make a point, or was it completely for you?
Have you ever intentionally created one of those “accidentally running into him while looking incredible” moments? What’s the real first move after a breakup: a haircut, the gym, deleting his number, blocking his mom on Instagram, or something nobody would guess?
And here’s the bigger question: Do men actually know the difference between a woman who’s genuinely over them and a woman who’s simply trying to look like she is?
Drop your answers in the comments. We’re not asking to catch anyone in anything. We’re asking because two grown men went on camera and said they’ve cracked the code, and it feels like the code deserves a fact-check from the people who actually hold it.
