Shilo, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, signed his rookie contract on Friday, worth $2.965 million over three years. This move sets him on the path to join the Bucs for their rookie minicamp.

Shilo, who will wear the No. 28, spent two years at South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State to play alongside his father and brother Shedeur from 2021 to 2022. He capped off his college career in 2023 and 2024 at Colorado. Over six college seasons, Sanders totaled 217 tackles, 160 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions, including a pick-6, two fumble recoveries, and seven forced fumbles across 52 games.

Bucs head coach and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles expressed high regard for Shilo’s skills.

“Like the rest of the safeties, he’s very intelligent. He’s very loud. You can hear him today, making calls and everything, so he has a good grasp of things Day 1,” Bowles noted.

He added, “There were about three or four of them that did. He was one of them, but you have to make plays in pads. That’s what it comes down to, knowing what to do and doing it consistently while constantly improving.”
